Elsie died in Portland, Oregon. Her death was obtained from the Oregon Death Registers on the Ancestry Web site. 27 Oct 1962 Elsie wrote James Clifford Morfitt upon his inquiry into family genealogy. Her address then was 2830 S. W. Custer St., Portland, 19, Oregon. Elsie replied, in part, as follows:
It was so nice to hear from my family as I have lost track of thyem all. I always liked your brother Frank so much. He was with us when my mother passed on, and he could sing so nice. I don't remember how old he was. I think I was 18 and I am nearly 76 now.
When my sister, Josa, passed on she was with her daughter in Tacoma and your cousin Laura's daughter, Mildred Burns, was there, and I have never seen or heard from any of them since. We were all so proud of my sister. She taught language in the University of Montana. She went to Paris and went to the university there for a year.
I never had any children but raised two motherless kids. Our girl graduated from the University of Oregon, married a government man, who is stationed in Kodiak, Alaska, and she has taught in the high school there for ten years. Our boy has been on the State Police here for 23 years.
