- The Hoffstatter Family History" by Barbara Norris Smith. In the 1880 census of Washington Tw[/, Wapello, Iowa, Perry had a 22-year-old widowed sister living with them named Addie Gillfillan. Must have been this Editha.
1870 Census, Bloomfield Twp., Davis, Iowa.
Info from family: Addie (Annie per 1900 census) Hoffstatter a cousin of Frank Hoffstatter. They were married 1886 in Iowa before coming west. (HOWEVER) Frank was born in Washington so I don't see how this could be correct. They had one daughter, Rose, who they adopted, b. Mar 1885. She was Addie's niece, being the child of Addie's sister. Frank had a butcher shop in Baker in the 1890s. Addie married (2) Mr. Benbew upon the death of Frank in 1903. Her name was spelled Annetie in Oregon Death Regs.
1910 Census, Portland, Multnomah, Oregon. Addie Hoffstatter was in the census but not under the name Benbew so perhaps the marriage didn't last. There was perhaps a third marriage as the Oregon Marriage Registers show an Addie Hoffstatter marrying on 3 Jul 1912, no husband's name.
