- Funeral services for Mr. Lexie L. Mitchell of Bragg City were held Monday, August 29, 1983 at 2:00 p.m. in the Church of Christ in Hayti with Bro. Raymond Hagood of Hayti officiating. Burial was in the Maple Cemetery at Caruthersville.
Mr. Mitchell was born on July 24, 1923 at Hornbeak, Tennessee and departed this life on August 25, 1983 at Hayti at the age of 60 years, 1 month and 1 day.
Lexie was a retired farmer and maintenance foreman with the Loxcreen Company in Hayti He was a WWII veteran, where he received 8 bronze stars.He was the son of the late Lexie and Minnie Lee Barnes Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell leaves the following mourn his passing: two sons, Gaylon Dewayne Mitchell of Rector, Arkansas and Gary Gene Mitchell of Blytheville Air Force Base, Arkansas; three daughters, Mrs. Pat Murrell of Portageville, Mrs. Regenia Faye Dougan of LaPlace, Louisiana and Mrs. Terricia Kay Jones of Paragould, Arkansas; eight grandchildren; one brother, Neeley Mitchell of Hayti; three sisters, Mrs. Loxie Hooker of Hayti, Mrs. Louise Cook of Hayti and Mrs. Dorris Price of Memphis, Tennessee; and a host of other relatives and friends.Pallbearers were Raymond Dawson, Wassen Dodson, Thad Phillips, Howard Tillman, Arnold Glass and Woodrow Dodson.John W.
