- Mrs. Ruth Hoffstatter, 58, 2441 Belknap Blvd., died at 11:43 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 1975 in St. Joseph Hospital. Born Wilma Ruth Starr August 12, 1916 in Keokuk, she was the daughter of Pearl Ivan and the late Iva Leighton Starr. She married LaVerne Hoffstatter Sept. 28, 1940 in Keokuk. He died Dec. 11, 1971.
Mrs. Hoffstatter is survived by fer father; two sons, John Pearl of Moline and Ronald LaVerne of Keokuk; two daughters, Sandra Marcine Savage of Hamilton and Janice Lynn Hoffstatter of Keokuk; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Pauline Hester and Mrs. Nels (Betty) McKiernan, borh of Keokuk; three brothers, Donald of Citrus Heights, Calif., Joseph of Sacramento, and David of San Antonio; and other relatives. She was a lifelong resident of Keokuk. She graduated from Keokuk public schools and the St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in 1939. She also attended Carthage College. For 35 years she was employed as a registered nurse at St. Joseph Hospital and for many years was head nurse in the maternity ward. She continued to work until the summer of 1974, when her health failed. She was a member of the Emmanuel Methodist Church and the Fidelity Center. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in DeJong's Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Burkhart officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.
