- Lloyd was adopted by the Huffstutters. His parents were Albert Walter Wheeler and Edith May Bogue (27 Feb 1899-19 Apr 1960 La Mesa, CA). Ralph Huffstutter married Edith Mae on 13 Dec 1922, a year and a half after Lloyd's birth. Ralph adopted Lloyd. I do not know what happened to Lloyd's father, Albert. I understand that Lloyd had a Wheeler sister. I also have heard that after Edith died, Ralph married Edith's sister. Both the sister and Ralph died in an auto accident on the I-5 freeway near Oceanside. Lloyd served in WWII for 5 months and was released due to his asthma. He went to work for Ryan Aeronautical in San Diego where he met Eileen Elrod who had moved to Southern California with her sister to work. Eileen was from Bedford, Indiana. Eillen worked in the accounting department, Lloyd was an inspector. The monthly company magazine, the Ryan Flying Reporter mentions them both and there is a photo of Lloyd in a late 1944 issue. By 1946, they were living in Bedford but soon moved back to Southern California. Lloyd and Eileen had 3 children. My understanding is she died of colon cancer and was cremated. One of Eileen's sisters, Leola Ruth (a painter, I think she was the one who shared the San Diego apartment), died in Washington State late 2010. Another sister, Genevieve Hazelaker of Anderson, WA, perhaps still lives.-RFH (Eileen's parents were Charles F. Elrod and Rose J. Lamb).
