Book, The Hoffstatter Family History by Barbara Norris Smith. In the 1870 census she is listed as a teacher, age 19, living with her mother. "Jennie" was a common nickname for Jane so this is the Jennie A. Hoffstatter who married Lewis Ball. After their marriage they moved to Henry County, Illinois where Lewis had come in 1865 to Munson Twp., Section 14. In the 1877 History of Henry County, Lewis is listed as a farmer, and he owned 82 acres of land valued at $4,000.
Jane was still living when her sister Mary Wood died in 1894. She was living in the same town as Mary which in Mary's obituary was simply shown to be "of this city." I assume it was Geneseo, Henry County.
Jane died at her son's home in Denver, Colorado. she was returned to Geneseo to be buried with her family. See full obituary in file.
Robert Strock manuscript. She was known as Jennie Ann. Bob says she was married 24 Mar 1873 in Golden, Colorado.
